FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What if I don't have all my study information yet?

You may begin an entry and save it to return to it later. The entry will not be public until you click Publish.

Where can I find the template for preparing to enter my study?

You can download the checklist of required information for a registry entry.

When does my registry entry become public?

After clicking on Publish, the entry will be time-stamped and made public. You may update the published version at any time. All updates will also be time-stamped as updated versions of your initial entry and made public if you click on Publish after saving your edits.

What if I don't have an educational study?

REES is currently built using the language of education research. However, all fields offer an “other” option that can be used to refer to units outside of education. For example, instead of students, teachers, or schools being the unit of random assignment, you could identify “communities” or “hospitals”.

Can someone other than the Principal Investigator register a study?

Any member of a research team can register a study. Additional team members can be added as administrators - which allows the person to make changes to an entry and publish or collaborators - which allows a person to edit an entry.

How can I make changes to an entry after publishing it in REES?

Once an entry is published, you can click on Update at any time to make changes. This will create a new version of the entry that you can edit. You will be given a chance to provide a narrative explanation of the changes made in the update when you click on Publish.

How do I know if my registry entry requires sub-entries in REES?

A sub-entry is necessary if:

  1. there is more than one design (e.g., RCT and QED) within the study; or
  2. the primary outcomes are assessed at more than one level (e.g., students and teachers) within the study.

Sub-entries within a registry entry will have a unique ID with the same base number (e.g., Number 789.1, 789.2, and 789.3).

How can I cite my registration?

Each entry will be given a unique ID number that can be referenced in any citation.

What if I have a question regarding a specific field?

Every section of REES has a user guide that provides more details on the information requested in each field. By clicking on the User Guide button at the top of any section, you can view that section's user guide or the user guide for the entire registry.

How can I get questions answered that FAQs or the REES User Guide doesn't answer?

All questions unanswered by the FAQs or the User Guide can be submitted via the contact us page.
